Artist Statement:

I am a minimalist. My style is simple and modern. I am inspired by my love of Chinese calligraphy and nature. For this artwork, I used traditional Chinese ink and brush on rice paper to capture the essence of my cat. Working with Chinese ink and brush on rice paper is always fascinating and challenging because there is no way to undo and redo but each time it’s a surprise! By playing with the different textures of brush strokes, arranging the space between black (brush) and white (paper), it allows me to create my own contemporary vision of an ancient cultural practice.
